Additional Insured – Owners, Lessees or Contractors – Ongoing Operations (CG 20 10 04 13)

Provides additional insured coverage for designated parties for liability arising out of your ongoing operations, but not your completed operations.

What Does This Coverage Include?

Modifies the Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy to address common contract risk transfer requirements—such as additional insured status, primary and noncontributory wording, and waiver of subrogation.
Adds Additional Insured status for qualifying upstream parties (for example, an owner, general contractor, or client) so they can access defense and indemnity under your CGL policy for covered claims tied to your work.
Applies to **ongoing operations** only—meaning claims connected to active work while operations are in progress (such as jobsite bodily injury or property damage arising from your current activities).
Ongoing operations additional insured wording is commonly used to support jobsite risk transfer while the work is being performed.
Coverage is generally limited to liability caused, in whole or in part, by your acts or omissions (or those acting on your behalf), and it remains subject to all CGL exclusions, conditions, and limits.
Commonly used in construction, maintenance, and service agreements where the upstream party wants clear allocation of defense and indemnity responsibility tied to your work.

The following coverages can be included if endorsed elsewhere
Completed operations Additional Insured coverage: This endorsement does not extend additional insured protection for liability arising out of completed operations (after work is finished).
Primary and noncontributory status: This endorsement does not state that your policy applies on a primary and noncontributory basis for the required parties.
Waiver of subrogation: This endorsement does not waive the insurer’s rights of recovery against required parties.

Improves risk transfer in real-world claims—such as a third-party injury at a worksite—by reducing the chance that the upstream party’s own insurance is forced to respond first.

Ensure that policy number - when printed - matches the COI
Ensure that expiration date - when printed - is not yet expired
Ensure that no invalidating watermarks (e.g. Sample) are included
Ensure the boxes contain full blanket language or the additional insured entities and locations that match your contract.
