General Liability Blanket, Additional Insured Ongoing & Completed Operations, Waiver of Subrogation Endorsement (PI-GLD-SG IL (06/09))
Provides additional insured coverage for designated parties for liability arising out of your ongoing and completed operations. It also includes a waiver of subrogation. Coverage is extended to any person or organization required by written contract.
What Does This Coverage Include?
Modifies the Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy to address common contract risk transfer requirements—such as additional insured status, primary and noncontributory wording, and waiver of subrogation.
Adds Additional Insured status for qualifying upstream parties (for example, an owner, general contractor, or client) so they can access defense and indemnity under your CGL policy for covered claims tied to your work.
Applies to both **ongoing operations** (work in progress) and **completed operations** (claims that arise after work is finished), subject to the endorsement’s terms, your contract, and the policy period.
Helps bridge the gap between jobsite incidents and post-completion claims—important for projects where allegations can surface months or years after the work is delivered.
Coverage is generally limited to liability caused, in whole or in part, by your acts or omissions (or those acting on your behalf), and it remains subject to all CGL exclusions, conditions, and limits.
Includes a **Waiver of Subrogation**, which supports contractual clauses requiring you to waive the insurer’s rights of recovery against the Additional Insured or other required parties.
Written on a **blanket** basis, extending the applicable coverage to any person or organization you are required to name by written contract—reducing the need to schedule every entity one-by-one.
Commonly used in construction, maintenance, and service agreements where the upstream party wants clear allocation of defense and indemnity responsibility tied to your work.
What Is NOT Covered?
The following coverages can be included if endorsed elsewhere
Primary and noncontributory status: This endorsement does not state that your policy applies on a primary and noncontributory basis for the required parties.
Why Is This Endorsement Important?
Supports contract requirements that require Additional Insured protection for **ongoing operations**, so an owner or general contractor can be defended under your policy if a jobsite incident is tied to your work.
Improves risk transfer in real-world claims—such as a third-party injury at a worksite—by reducing the chance that the upstream party’s own insurance is forced to respond first.
Extends risk transfer into the **post-completion** period—useful when allegations (like resulting property damage) arise after work is finished and the upstream party is pulled into a lawsuit.
Reduces friction after a loss by supporting **waiver of subrogation** provisions, which can help prevent the carrier from pursuing recovery against the required parties.
Simplifies compliance across projects by extending coverage automatically to parties required by written contract—reducing endorsement scheduling delays and administrative rework.
