Umbrella Liability Blanket, Waiver of Subrogation Endorsement (UMU 4011 (Ed. 06/18))
Adds a waiver of subrogation for umbrella liability risk transfer, but does not include additional insured coverage. Coverage is extended to any person or organization required by written contract.
What Does This Coverage Include?
- Modifies an Umbrella/Excess Liability policy to address contract-driven risk transfer requirements, especially when large losses could exceed underlying general liability or auto limits.
- Does not indicate additional insured coverage under the umbrella/excess policy, so contract requirements for umbrella additional insured status may need a separate umbrella endorsement.
- Includes a **Waiver of Subrogation**, limiting the insurer’s ability to seek recovery from specified parties after paying a covered loss under the umbrella layer.
- Written on a **blanket** basis, extending the applicable coverage to any person or organization required by written contract—reducing administrative burden for multi-project operations.
- Used when contracts require umbrella/excess policies to mirror key risk transfer provisions and when severe claims could realistically pierce underlying limits.
What Is NOT Covered?
- The following coverages can be included if endorsed elsewhere
- Additional Insured coverage: This endorsement does not add Additional Insured status under the umbrella/excess policy.
- Primary and noncontributory status: This endorsement does not state that the umbrella/excess coverage applies on a primary and noncontributory basis for the required parties.
- Follow Form: This endorsement does not indicate follow form terms that track the underlying policy conditions when the umbrella responds.
