Pay-As-You-Go Insurance

 

What is Pay-As-You-Go insurance?

With Pay-As-You-Go, you are insured on a per contract or per day basis. If you aren’t working, you aren’t paying. When you apply for an insurance policy, you’ll be provided with a quote either based on a specific contract (after giving Jones some details on the contract) or based on how many days you work each year. You pay for the days you work, not for a full year.

 

 

How do I apply for Pay-As-You-Go insurance?

When you apply for insurance, you will answer about twelve questions about your business and receive a quote. Once you’ve paid, we’ll just need a few details for each additional contract, primarily the dates, location and service type of the new contract.

 

 

How do I activate my policy for a new contract?

You can activate it directly through the app, write to us via email or text or call us at 877-278-8468. You’ll answer just a few quick questions about the contract and you’re good to go to work.

 

 

How do I stop my insurance?

You can define an end date for your policy when you activate it. If the project goes long, you can also extend your policy and pay the per-day rate quoted to you.

 

If you aren’t sure when your project ends, just activate your policy and then send us a text to 877-278-8468 saying ‘stop’ when the project is done and the policy will be stopped. You can also send us an email, give us a call or stop it through the app.

 

 

How do I cancel my policy?

If your policy is inactive (i.e. if you aren’t currently working), then you don’t even need to cancel. If you’re in the middle of a project and have an active policy and decide to cancel, just send us a text, email or give us a call at 877-278-8468 and it will be cancelled right away. If we owe you any part of your premium, that will be returned to you promptly.

 

 

How much does Pay-As-You-Go insurance cost?

As you may know, if you have already had an annual insurance policy, the cost of your policy is influenced by location, size, profession and a few other details. Jones uses these factors, but takes into account how much time you actually spend working. For example, if you need coverage for 10 days a month or fewer, Jones can save you up to 70% on your policy.

 

 

How do I pay for Jones?

You can pay via credit card or debit card. As simple as it gets.

 

 

When do you charge? When should I pay?

The charge will be made when the policy terms have been agreed on and you have decided to sign up for the policy. As soon as you give us your payment details, you will be charged. Often the whole process can take as little as a few hours.

 

 

How often do I pay?

We know you just want insurance coverage to be done with, so you pay when you sign up for the policy and then put it out of your mind. No monthly payments or fees. Once you have a policy for a contract, you won’t pay again until you contact us for a new policy for a new contract.

 

 

How do I make a claim?

As soon as you become aware of the claim, shoot us an email, text or call us at 877-278-8468 to let us know about it. Include as much info about the claim as possible. Jones will notify the insurance company. The insurance company will assign a claims analyst to the claim and Jones will coordinate between you and the analyst. We’ll be with you every step of the way.

 

 

How do I change my limits?

Contact us through the app, send an email or text us at 877-278-8468 and we’ll be happy to make any changes to your policy that you require. You can also have different limits for every contract, which you can designate when you contact us to activate your policy for a new contract.

 

 

When I pay my premium, what’s the down payment?

Jones doesn’t require a down payment. You pay for your policy when you sign up and don’t pay again until you sign up for the policy for your next contract. Pay as you go.

 

 

Why is the premium on the insurance company’s quote much higher than the premium I am being charged by Jones?

Jones isn’t charging you for an annual policy, so some of the costs that go along with a long term policy don’t apply.

 

 

How does project-based coverage work?

When you need to give a client or potential client proof of insurance, you can buy coverage for just that project with Jones’s Pay-As-You-Go policies. You can do it online or on the phone with an agent. Just answer a few questions about your business and the project, get a quote, pay and active the policy and receive a free COI, often all within a few hours. We’ll even share the COI with your client and make sure it’s approved, so you don’t have to think about it and can just focus on getting to work.

Why do I need a certificate of insurance?

You could say that liability insurance is almost as important as your tools; without your tools, you cannot work, and without liability insurance, your clients won’t let you work. How do I get a certificate of insurance?

It’s pretty easy to get a COI. If you already have an insurance policy with us, you can contact us via phone, email, Facebook or the app and request a new certificate of liability insurance. How is this certificate issued?

The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) is a non-profit organization that governs certificates of insurance. ACORD provides the standardized certificates and forms to the insurance industry.

 

 

Why is my client asking to be added to my certificate of insurance?

Don’t worry – as the certificate holder, your client doesn’t have any legal rights under your policy when it comes to claims. But if you decide to cancel your insurance policy or you change the terms of your policy, Jones is now obligated to report to him of any of the changes made to your policy, which are changes that your client may want to be aware of. 

 

How can I add my client as additional insured?

All you need to do is to contact Jones through the app, send an email or text us at 877-278-8468. We will be able to tell you if the terms of your insurance policy will allow you to add an additional insured. Read more…

 

 

How do I share a certificate of insurance with my client?

Just share the client’s contact details with us and we’ll make sure they get the COI and approve it. All you have to think about is getting to work.

 

 

How long does it take to get a certificate of insurance?

When purchasing an insurance policy from Jones, you’ll receive the certificate of insurance together with your insurance documentation after as little as a few hours. In extreme cases, it could take up to one business day.

 

 

Who benefits from a certificate of liability insurance?

Everyone! A general liability insurance policy offers your potential clients and additional vendors peace of mind that they will be compensated for any damage that may occur during your project. It also protects you in the case of workplace accidents that result in property damage or injury. You can get more clients and win more contracts when you can quickly and easily prove that you’re covered.

Does Jones also offer annual policies?

Yes, we do and you’ll still save. Jones doesn’t believe in service fees and charges. That’s not your problem, so we’ll take of it for you and pass the savings on to you.

If you choose to pay for an annual policy all at once, you’ll do that when you sign up, so you don’t have to worry about monthly payments. You choose whether you’d like to pay for an annual policy in one chunk or do monthly installments. We’re happy to do whatever’s easiest for you.

 

 

What types of insurance does Jones sell?

Jones currently only offers general liability insurance (or commercial/business general liability).

 

 

What carriers do you use?

Quite a few A-rated insurance companies, such as Chubb and Atlas.

 

 

What my policy covers?

With general liability insurance coverage, your business is protected from claims by your client of property damage and bodily injury. This can cover medical and legal expenses in the event of a claim. The application says certain activities are excluded from coverage. How can I add them on?

Let us know what coverage you’re looking for and we’ll look into it for you. Most of the time, there won’t be an issue, but there might be an additional premium for it. We’ll let you know during the request period. Read more…

 

An example of a common exclusion that we sometimes amend is the “Open Roof Exclusion.” It basically states that for roofing work, the policy does not give coverage for damage to materials and structure caused by weather. Often, we can have it amended so that you will have coverage if you initially covered the roof with protective material, but the roof’s materials and/or structure was damaged regardless. 

 

 

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes, your contact and billing information is kept completely confidential. Your information will never be given or sold to anyone outside of Jones and the policy carrier.

 

 

Do you offer workers comp?

Jones does not offer workers comp. We currently only offer General Liability Insurance policies.

 

 

What are the limits of coverage being provided?

Limits are like this:

How do I change the information, business name or payment details on my policy?

Just drop your agent a line and we can update that for you.

 

 

My credit card has been declined. What should I do?

Please confirm your credit card details have been entered correctly. If they are correct, please check with your credit card company to see if there are any issues with your card. Once you have done this, 

 

 

How do I get my billing?

When your payment is required, we will send you an invoice with a link where you can pay by credit card or debit card.

 

 

I never received my documents. How can I get them?

Let us know and we can manually send you anything that’s missing.

 

 

Can I have a physical copy of my documents?

Jones loves the environment, so we try to stay paperless, but if you need a paper copy, let us know and we can mail or fax you one.
